Athletes Arrive For the 120th Boston Marathon

The 120th Boston Marathon will take place on Monday, April 18, 2016 and athletes from all over the world have started arriving in Boston, Massachusetts to prepare for the 26.2-mile adventure. As always, the race takes place on Patriots Day, which is a holiday that is exclusive to the state.

It’s incredibly impressive to see how hard some of these runners train for the race. Most would think it takes months to prepare; however, it can actually take years to qualify to participate in the marathon. Long story short, one doesn’t just show up and start running the day of the race without proper preparation.

As most know, the Boston Marathon made global headlines in 2013 with the bombings that claimed the lives of three spectators and injured an estimated 264 people. Due to the tragedy, the phrase “Boston Strong” was created to help restore positivity in the city.

What you may not know is that the Arpin Charitable Fund, also known as Arpin Strong, was created in the wake of the Boston Marathon bombings. Arpin’s employees felt the need to do something that would positively impact the community long term, while beginning the healing process. The ongoing volunteer campaign, known today as “Arpin Strong,” set into motion a permanent solution for providing emergency aide to the people and places where it’s needed most.

Good luck to all of the athletes participating in this year’s Boston Marathon.  We hope everyone has an amazing time. And don’t stop running…the 26.2 mile marker will be in sight before you know it!

We wish all the best and, of course, BOSTON STRONG!
