AMSA Leaders Program: Paving the Way for the Future of the Moving Industry
I had the pleasure of being a part of this year’s class and it was an experience that I will forever recommend to anyone seeking to enhance their leadership skills.
The program itself spanned five months. Every week for twenty weeks, MaryScott Tuck, Director of Training & Certification at the AMSA, sent the participants an assignment that focused on different leadership styles and techniques. There was also a lot of self-reflection and self-assessment that was extremely beneficial. She did an amazing job with facilitating the program.
To wrap the program up, all of the participants met for a two-day workshop that was facilitated by Steve Swafford and Jill McCrory from Leadership Outfitters. They brought the energy from the very beginning and it kept the sessions lively and engaging.
The next day, the graduating class members were presented to everyone attending the conference’s opening session and I’m proud to report that, while some had fears, no one tripped while accepting their certificate.
Along with myself, Mike Florence, Manager of Carrier Services & Customer Care, and Chad Queeney, Vice President at Hampton Roads Moving & Storage, represented Arpin. Here is what they thought of the program:
“The Leaders Program was an enjoyable collaboration with other industry professionals. Companies of all sizes with employees or owners of all backgrounds were present to share and learn from one another.” – Mike Florence
“It was a great experience and very educational. The program teaches you trust, value, and ethics for yourself and your business. The group activities and interaction is a huge benefit to any aspiring leader and I hope to send team members from my organization through the program.” – Chad Queeney
The thing I liked the most about the program was the people. Just looking around the room, you could tell that you were in the presence of the future leaders of the moving industry. I wish all of them the absolute best of luck and hope to see them again.
