AMSA Reports on Moving & Retirement Planning
Based on survey results from the Demand Institute, forty-three percent of Americans aged 50 to 64 say they plan to move within six years, along with half of them claiming they plan to move to a smaller house. What was the reason? Apparently, this group is compiled mostly of baby boomers that delayed retirement due to the recession. Downsizing has been seen as another way to allow their assets to last longer.
Other survey results were complied for those over 65. According to those statistics, seventy-eight percent plan not to move. However, for those that do, sixty-six percent plan to move into a smaller residence.
