Celebrating National Women’s History Month

A few years later in 1980, President Jimmy Carter officially declared the week of March 8 as National Women’s History Week. Seven years later, Congress officially recognized the month of March as National Women’s History Month.

Another interesting fact about National Women’s History Month is that it incorporates a different theme into the celebration every year. The theme for 2017 is “Honoring Trailblazing Women in Labor and Business.” Past themes have been “Generations of Courage, Compassion, and Conviction” (1987), “Women Putting Our Stamp On America” (1999), and “Women, Builders of Communities and Dreams” (2006).
