It’s Back To School Time!
It’s that time of year again that comes with mixed feelings for kids – going back to school. On one hand, they’re excited to see friends that they may not have seen all summer. On the other hand, they’re sad to see summer come to an end.
Starting school can also be a bit nerve-racking for a child, especially if they have just moved to a new area. Not only are they in an entirely new environment, but also they have to make all new friends.
Let’s take a few steps back and look at the moving process. If you’re a parent that will be moving your children soon, here are a few tips to make sure they’re not stressed out.
- Be Positive About the Move – Moving can be quite stressful for all those involved, so if your children see that you’re cool, calm, and collected, they’ll most likely react the same way.
- Discuss the Move with Your Children – There’s a good chance that your children will have a ton of questions about what’s going on. Sit down with them and go over all aspects of what they should expect. This will help ease their fears and make them more comfortable.
- Different Ages Act Differently – The older your child is, the more they’ll comprehend about the move. A teenager will be more aware of the situation, while a younger child may see the movers as strangers coming in to your home and taking all of your things. Explaining the process to your children in advance can help to alleviate any concerns they may have.
