More Young College Graduates Are Staying Local
According to Forbes.com, economists Robert Kelchen and Doug Webber have measured the share of young adults aged 22-24 with a bachelor’s degree who have moved to a different state in 2016. While 12% did move, the number is down four percentage points (16%) from 2001.
Statistics also show which states draw the most interest from young graduates. California and Texas are two examples, due to their booming economies. However, northern states don’t fare as well, with our own Rhode Island as one with the biggest net loss of college graduates.
