Labor Day Celebration

Labor Day became a federal holiday in 1894, but it is heavily debated as to whom initially proposed the celebration. To date, records show a split between Peter J. McGuire, co-founder of the American Federation of Labor, and machinist Matthew Maguire, as being the influencer of establishing Labor Day. Either way, their contributions to the labor force in regard to supporting the wellbeing of workers and promoting the appreciation for employees is evident. The U.S. Department of Labor’s article here reports on the interesting outcome at the first-ever and nearly disastrous Labor Day parade.

This Labor Day, we encourage all to reflect on the accomplishments that the American workforce has made within this country. From the highways that were built by crews, to the Arpin truck drivers that now coast along them, it is our laborers who we have to thank for all that makes our nation the greatest!
