The Business of Wind and the Ocean State

The panel chosen for the event was fantastic. Jeffrey Grybowski, CEO of Deepwater Wind; Fred Presley, Town Manager of West Warwick; Hannah Morini, Project Developer of Wind Energy Development; and Robert Whitcomb, Co-author of Cape Wind all lent their expertise and advice about the subject. Miles Grant, Director of Communications of the National Advocacy Center, moderated the panel and asked the questions that highlighted the importance of the wind industry.

Even though the event was centered on Rhode Island, the ideas and projects discussed could very well have an impact in other states in the US. Now, more than ever, experts are trying to find ways to provide more sustainable solutions to our dependence on fossil fuels.

Deepwater Wind, for example, is making history by establishing the first ever offshore wind farm. It was fascinating to hear about the logistics involved in undertaking a project of this magnitude and the long-term benefits once it’s completed.
